Hon. Morris Dukuly
MINISTER
Ministry of Internal Affairs
Republic of Liberia

Dear Sir:

Please be duly informed we’ve been retained by a group of women and few men whose homes were demolished by the Local government of Maryland County in 2006 during a failed expansion of The Alexander Tubman Aero Port in Harper. Damages accrued in the amount of Sixty-Six (US$66,000.00) thousand United States dollars.

Our clients informed us that this sad situation occurred during the administration of Hon. Sie-Teba Neufville as superintendent of Maryland. We are told that the Administration demolished their homes under the guise of expanding The Alexander Tubman Aero Port. Our clients maintain this unjust action by the Government is responsible for years of economic hardship, inhumane treatment, stress and abuse of their families.

As social justice advocates, our job is to seek justice for all. But in the event one causes willful harm to a people and that person or institution fails to cooperate in finding an amicable solution, peaceful and nonviolent protest demonstration is the last resort!

Several months ago, we submitted this complaint to Hon. Nazarene Brewer Tubman, current superintendent of Maryland, for her action. Previous to that, Hon. J. Gble-Bo Brown received the complaint in 2010. But up to the minute we opine, not much has been heard and/or done on record.

This matter could be a human rights abuse case.

Our clients informed us that they are weary and impatient with the Government’s neglect and slow pace in allowing them to have their rightful dues.

Our clients claim they are deeply troubled by the insensitivity being demonstrated by the Government. Therefore, it is our sole intend to lay this case before H.E. Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of the Republic of Liberia if needs be for her attention.

Prior to taking this to President Sirleaf, we herein request a conference with you in few days to find an amicable solution before the matter gets to crisis proportion.

In view of the foregoing, we will remain engaged with your office for the purpose of seeing that appropriate action is taken in this matter in a timely fashion.

We look forward to hearing from you very soon as time is not on our side. I am,

Very truly yours,

Thomas G. Bedell
